As the number of operators who have committed suicide or self-destructed in other ways (substance abuse and risky behaviors) mounts, and as the evidence regarding the significant toll taken by TBI grows, many operators are quietly wondering if they will be “next.” 

There is a pervasive awareness within the SOF community that the “invisible wounds” of war, including CTE or interface astroglial scarring, may claim them too.
